Together with Rivada Space Networks, NOW Corporation, a telecom, media, and technology company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, will offer the country's next-generation connectivity network. The current infrastructure for carrying large amounts of data is not keeping up with the growing demand from enterprises to transmit data rapidly and securely around the world. In terms of speed, security, and latency, terrestrial and outdated satellite networks in particular are obviously not the best options for commercial communications.
The OuterNET™ will be utilized by NOW Corporation, and because of Rivada's seamless connectivity, performance, security, and customer efficiency will all soar. For businesses that need secure infrastructure, such as banking and financial services, mining, and transportation, Rivada's industry-leading solutions will offer resilience for high-quality audio, video, and data solutions. In addition, NOW Corp's objective of supplying reliable connectivity to essential construction projects in the Philippines will be greatly aided by Rivada's OuterNET™, which is especially well-suited for the low latency and secure connectivity needed by the national and local governments as well as the defense sector. The telecom and allied division of NOW Corp., NOW Telecom, recently won a grant from the US Trade and Development Agency to build secure and dependable 5G mobile and internet networks throughout the Philippines. The "OuterNET," a unique next-generation architecture that combines intersatellite laser links with advanced onboard processing to provide unique routing and switching capabilities to create an optical mesh network in space, is Rivada's global low-latency point-to-point connectivity network of 600 low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites. By keeping data in orbit from point of origin to point of destination, this method of "orbital networking" produces an ultra-secure satellite network that spans pole to pole and has end-to-end latencies that are significantly lower than those of terrestrial fiber over comparable long distances. Additionally, it adds an extra layer of protection for any enterprise needing to securely transfer data across widely dispersed facilities by routing traffic on a physically distinct network. Henry Andrews Abes, president and CEO of NOW Corp., stated: “We welcome Rivada as one of the satellite partners that NOW has forged an alliance with. As we aim to link and to secure critical infrastructures in the Philippines, we aim to provide the most reliable and secure connectivity to our intended market. Rivada’s OuterNET will revolutionize how telecom services are provided to government agencies and companies employing mission-critical and security-sensitive applications and services across the 7,600 islands of the Philippines. We look forward to working with Rivada alongside other trusted partners. CEO of Rivada Space Networks Declan Ganley stated: “We are delighted to be working with a dynamic company like NOW Corp and be part of its Trusted Network initiative.” Ganley added: “The OuterNET allows satellites to go beyond their traditional role of ‘gap-filler.’ The OuterNET is a fully inter-connected space network, which is rapidly becoming the infrastructure of choice for secure data communications.” With Rivada’s OuterNET™, fundamental networking and connectivity issues will be resolved, creating new possibilities for international corporate interactions. Global service is expected to begin in 2026, with the first satellite launch scheduled for 2025.
