NOW Telecom and AST, a US-Based Satellite Company Collaborate on Space-Based Cellular Connectivity

NOW Telecom Company, Inc., an associate of NOW Corporation, and AST & Science, LLC, a well-known global satellite company, are happy to announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve communications solutions in the Philippines in a PSE Edge Disclosure dated November 10, 2023. Through this agreement, NOW Telecom will benefit from AST's experience in global satellite communications.

By working together, NOW and AST hope to expand telecom options globally, which includes remote and urban areas that aren't served by conventional land-based cell towers. The goal of this project is to give remote areas with little or no infrastructure access to full communication services, such as phone, video, data, and internet connectivity. With constant availability and quick recovery in emergency and disaster situations, NOW can serve its target markets and end the long-term denial of service to those residing in underserved and unserved locations.

This strategic action unites the people of the archipelago and connects them to the world's largest network of connections—the Internet—changing the lives of many Filipinos in a fundamental and innovative way.

The collaboration with AST advances NOW's Trusted Network program, which aims to exclusively collaborate with reliable suppliers in the Philippines' telecommunications sector. Additionally, NOW just introduced its Respond and Replace Program and worked with major international tech companies, including Fortinet, Cisco, Mangata, and Celona.

​With permission from the Philippine government, NOW is authorized to operate in space and holds a mobile telecommunications system license from the National Telecommunications Commission. The United States has recognized NOW as its partner in the rollout of the countrywide broadband network and 5G technology.
