Mangata Networks and NOW Corporation Have Teamed Up with Game-Changing MEO Satellite Connections and Enterprise-Grade Service
NOW Corporation has inked an alliance with Mangata Networks, Inc., to offer satellite internet in the country.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by NOW Corp., a publicly traded company on the Philippine Stock Exchange with investments in media, technology, and telecommunications, and Mangata Networks, Inc., a US-based company that provides edge computing solutions and satellite-enabled connectivity. This alliance was announced in a press release issued through PSE Edge on October 27, 2023.

This partnership is a direct answer to the growing need for reliable, high-capacity, low-latency connectivity that is backed by a service agreement among Philippine businesses. With the help of Mangata Networks' multi-orbit satellite constellation, NOW Corp. is able to provide its clients with improved services and network resilience. 24 MEO (medium Earth orbit) satellites and 8 HEO (highly elliptical orbit) satellites will make up the first 32 satellites of the Mangata constellation. Mangata will offer intelligent cloud computing services and seamless connections all over the world when combined with a terrestrial network of edge data centers. Mangata can provide real-time connectivity even in remote regions, such as giving remote healthcare to a cargo ship at sea, with a round-trip latency of less than 100 ms and rates of more than 10 gbps to a single site. With as few as 21 spacecraft, the hybrid constellation strategy enables each group of satellites to cooperate to dynamically maximize capacity, throughput, and overall system performance.

In comparison to lower-earth orbit satellites, Mangata's satellite system offers superior coverage and a bigger footprint with a single satellite, thanks to orbits and technology. In comparison to its competitors in the market, Mangata's commercial Service-Level Agreement (SLA) promises superior service quality and 99.5% network availability.

The low-cost, secure solution from Mangata enhances NOW Corp.'s dedication to offering reasonably priced connections in the Philippines. Additionally, this collaboration supports NOW's USTDA grant effort, which aims to build digital infrastructure and increase access to dependable connectivity throughout the nation.

"We are delighted to be partnering with NOW Corp. Our solutions will allow reliable enterprise-quality services to be provided within the Philippines on a secure network", said Jerome Hewlett, Chief Commercial Officer of Mangata Networks. "Enterprises want guaranteed information rates, with flexible data services, and no data caps. Combining satellite capacity with cloud-based services enables secure private networks and gives more control to the Philippines government and enterprise businesses to control the costs and security of their digital infrastructure.”

“This alliance with Mangata aligns with our objective to establish a trusted network in the country. Currently, we focus on the enterprise market and Mangata’s solution matches the sophisticated demands of the market when it comes to having reliable satellite connectivity,” says Henry Andrews Abes, President and CEO of NOW Corp.

Customers of NOW Corp. in the Philippines will now have access to Mangata Networks' MangataEdge™, which connects with NOW Corp.'s secure network infrastructure and expands the reach of 5G and IoT connections into difficult-to-reach locations, bringing cloud applications closer to consumers.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a global governing organization that oversees the use of radio frequency spectrum, has authorized Mangata's spectrum and orbits. Mangata was granted a permit to conduct business in the UK in February 2023. Mangata is working to obtain a comparable license from the FCC to conduct business in the US. Mangata announced earlier this year the establishment of a regional headquarters and maritime product center in Singapore. The business is also set to conclude its Series-B fundraising, which will be utilized to finish the payload design and start building a cutting-edge space engineering hub. The debut of Mangata's satellite communication services is planned for 2026.
