Google to Introduce a Policy for Sensitive Events
Google Publisher Policies must be followed by all publishers. Publishers need to know that the Tech Giant Company has the authority to disable ad serving on your site and/or, worse yet, to terminate your AdSense account at any moment if you don't follow the policies without Google's consent. You won't be able to continue taking part in the AdSense program if your account is disabled.Google announced that they will introduce a new Sensitive Events policy into the AdSense Program Policies on February 9, 2024.
Google recently announced that they will introduce a new Sensitive Events policy into the AdSense Program Policies on February 9, 2024.

Google defines a "sensitive event" as an unanticipated development or incident that poses a serious danger to the company's capacity to deliver accurate, ground-truth information, as well as to minimize offensive or exploitative content in prominent, commercialized services. Google may take several steps to mitigate these risks during a sensitive event.

Events that have a major social, cultural, or political impact—such as natural catastrophes, public health crises, terrorism and its linked activities, conflicts, or large-scale acts of violence—are examples of sensitive events, according to Google.

Here are some examples of what Google prohibits (non-exhaustive):

  • Goods or services that take advantage of, disregard, or support the sensitive event; this includes price gouging or increasing prices unnecessarily in order to prevent or restrict access to essential supplies; the selling of goods or services that might not be enough to meet demand during a sensitive event.
  • Seeking to increase traffic by utilizing keywords associated with a sensitive event.
  • Remarks that victims of a sensitive event should not receive assistance or compensation; that victims from a particular country were to blame for or deserving of a worldwide public health emergency; and victim-blaming incidents such as these.
