The world's largest search engine, Google, is marking its 25th birthday today with a unique doodle. Although Google Inc. was founded on September 4, the firm has been commemorating its birthday on September 27 for more than ten years.
In order to commemorate this unique event, the organization today took a walk down memory lane and displayed several doodles. The GIF accompanying today's Google Doodle changes "Google" into "G25gle." The IT company claimed that it was utilizing today as a time to reflect while remaining focused on the future.
Google was founded by doctoral students Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who met in Stanford University’s computer science program in the late ‘90s. They quickly learned they shared a similar vision: to make the World Wide Web a more accessible place. The pair worked tirelessly from their dorm rooms to develop a prototype for a better search engine. As they made meaningful progress on the project, they moved the operation to Google’s first office—a rented garage. On September 27, 1998, Google Inc. was officially born.
Much has changed since 1998—including the Google logo as seen in today’s Doodle—as per the giant search engine firm, but the mission has remained the same: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Billions of people from all over the globe use Google to search, connect, work, play, and so much more!
