ePLDT's VITRO Inc. to Open the Philippines’ Biggest Hyperscale Data Center

With the opening of the largest and first truly hyperscale data center facility in the country, ePLDT, through its data center subsidiary VITRO Inc., is preparing to strengthen the Philippines' standing as an emergent data center hub in Asia Pacific.​

Located on a 5-hectare property in Sta. Rosa, Laguna: The 50 MW VITRO Sta Rosa (VSR) project is expected to go operational in July. The purpose of VSR's dedicated Meralco switching station is to be activated by April 2024 in order to provide redundancy and power availability to clients who will begin deploying their equipment in the facility as early as June.

As part of its goal to develop its varied telco ecosystem within the facility prior to launch, VITRO Inc. cooperated with major telcos and ISPs, such as Radius, Eastern Communications, Infinivan, and its parent company, PLDT, in order to construct a real carrier neutral facility. In the upcoming weeks, further telco and carrier collaborations are expected to be revealed.​

VITRO Inc. and ePLDT have made considerable strides in their data center services. All of them, according to President and CEO Victor S. Genuino, are in line with the PLDT Group's goal of establishing the digital infrastructure necessary to support the country's efforts to create a digitally enabled Philippines.​

VSR is a massive 50 megawatt hyperscale facility that was constructed with the intention of being both Rated 4-Ready and Rated 3-Certified. In order to guarantee carrier neutrality, network diversity, and resilience, it is outfitted with three fiber routes. Global-class sustainability practices based on LEED standards will be implemented in supply, operations, and design.
