Balai Ni Fruitas Inc. Signed a Memorandum of Agreement to Acquire Sugarhouse

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed with Balai ni Fruitas Inc., a well-known counter-service bakery operator in the Philippines, to purchase the 40-year-old legacy brand and other assets associated with the Sugarhouse business.​

When Sugarhouse first opened in 1983, it provided its patrons with delicious pastries and baked delicacies. Cake specialties at Sugarhouse include their renowned chocolate truffle and French apple pie. Its menu has also been enlarged to include a greater variety of breads, pastries, and dinners.

Through the acquisition of Sugarhouse, BALAI will be able to reach a wider audience and increase the range of products it offers, especially in the cake category. Additionally, BALAI will be able to produce more, which will support its expansion. Significant synergies with its current brands are something else BALAI expects.

Assets including delivery, commissary, shop, and intellectual property are included in the acquisition. Additionally, BALAI will assume Sugarhouse's catering operations. It is anticipated that completion will occur on May 1, 2024, at the latest.

Balai ni Fruitas Inc. is a 75% -owned subsidiary of Fruitas Holdings Inc. Since the acquisition of certain assets of Balai Pandesal in June 2021, the Company has grown the Balai Pandesal store network from 5 to more than 50 as of December 31, 2023. The company has 3 well-loved brands in its portfolio, which includes Balai Pandesal, Buko ni Fruitas, and Fruitas House of Desserts. Balai ni Fruitas currently has more than 100 active stores spread among the 3 brands.
