The St. Francis Shangri-La Place Transitions to RE Through Ayala's ACEN RES
The St. Francis Shangri-La Place, a luxury development of Shang Properties and one of the tallest residential towers in Ortigas, is taking a significant step towards environmental sustainability by transitioning its common area energy use to 100% renewable energy through a partnership with the Ayala group's ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES).
This collaboration underscores the building's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable future for its residents. ACEN RES powers the building with renewable energy from ACEN's portfolio of solar, wind and geothermal power plants, contributing to the Philippines' broader transition to renewable energy.

ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of ACEN Corporation, is at the forefront of the country's renewable energy movement, providing sustainable energy solutions to businesses and residential developments. This partnership demonstrates the growing trend of organizations embracing renewable energy to benefit from cost savings and to accelerate their sustainability efforts.

Joseph Salting, head for property management of Shang Property Management Services, said: "We are proud to partner with ACEN RES in this important initiative. This transition to renewable energy for our common areas aligns with our commitment to providing our residents with a sustainable and environmentally responsible living environment."

Atty. John Henry Liquete, ACEN VP for legal, said: “ACEN RES is dedicated to empowering organizations to make the switch to renewable energy to help them achieve their business and sustainability aspirations. We commend The St. Francis Shangri-La Place for setting an example for other businesses in embracing renewable energy as a means of contributing to the country's goal of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix.”

This initiative highlights the increasing adoption of renewable energy, thanks to the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a government initiative spearheaded by the Department of Energy, which allows electricity consumers to choose renewable energy sources through their preferred renewable energy supplier.

By transitioning to renewable energy, The St. Francis Shangri-La Place avoids the emissions of around 2,200 tons of CO2 equivalents into the atmosphere annually. This is equivalent to the carbon emissions generated by a gasoline-powered car travelling 8,824,570 km or the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by 101,000 full grown trees in a year.

The St. Francis Shangri-La Place is one of the tallest residential buildings in the country developed by Shang Properties and managed by Shang Property Management Services. Strategically located at the heart of the bustling Ortigas district known as Shang Central, it provides residents access to an integrated community that includes the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel (with its world-class Chi Spa) and the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, with its wide range of upscale shopping choices, entertainment venues, and dining options.

ACEN, the Ayala group’s listed energy platform, is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy platforms in Asia Pacific, with the Philippines as its core and largest market, accounting for 35% of its capacity. It also has a significant presence in Australia, Vietnam, India, and Lao PDR, along with strategic investments in Indonesia and other markets. The company currently has ~7 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity spanning operational, under-construction, and committed projects.

As a developer, builder, and operator, ACEN leverages its agility and collaborative approach to accelerate the energy transition. Committed to unlocking access to clean, reliable, and affordable renewable energy, the company is on track to achieve 100% renewable energy generation by 2025 and reach Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050—turning bold ambitions into real impact for businesses, communities, and indigenous groups
