The Next Frontier for the MVP Group: Harnessing Data Assets Through ‘DigiCo’

Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP), the chairman and CEO of PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), has emphasized his intention to expand the company beyond telco by utilizing the resources of the entire MVP Group.

Pangilinan mentioned the recently established DigiCo, a multi-company project that aims to efficiently, responsibly, and value-accretively utilize the rich data assets of the MVP Group, at the PLDT annual shareholders' meeting that was just conducted. PLDT and two other Pangilinan-led companies, Meralco and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), owned DigiCo.

“We believe that DigiCo’s mission can be a compelling answer to the question we’ve continuously asked ourselves, which is how to transform into a digital business that can continue offering great value to Filipinos far into the future,” Pangilinan said.
 
DigiCo can be a beacon of possibilities that will enable generational progress for all Filipinos. “Our data as a conglomerate--handled wisely and responsibly--can serve the most pressing needs of our country and our people,” added Pangilinan.

The MVP Group has a vast amount of data from fintech, entertainment, utilities, telco, and health technology businesses. With the use of a digital services ecosystem, DigiCo hopes to better anticipate and meet the demands of its clientele by leveraging a single perspective of the group's customer base.
