SM Supermalls, led by President Steven Tan, is reinventing its malls to make them more sustainable, innovative, and community-centric. "The history of SM Supermalls is one that has been built on innovation and change to serve the needs of millions of Filipinos," Mr. Tan says. In this new era, SM Supermalls is reimagining customer experience by creating more spaces for leisure and interaction, and celebrating local communities. “Our goal is to create spaces that not only meet the needs of our customers but also anticipate and evolve with them. This new era is about forging deeper connections with our community and ensuring that every visit to our malls is meaningful and enriching,” adds Mr. Tan
. Three ways SM Supermalls is revamping its malls for the Filipino community. Greener spaces The incorporation of lush inside gardens as well as the construction of more outdoor greeneries is a prominent component of the bold redevelopments of SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM City Bacolod, SM City Cebu, and SM City Iloilo. Optimized sustainability features SM's proven sustainable solutions, including water recycling and treatment, solar energy, natural lighting, and deck landscaping, which are already found in practically all SM malls, are constantly developed. Community-centric designs The designs of the latest generation of malls are influenced by the populations they serve. The skyscraper of SM City Laoag, which is set to open soon, reflects the inabel weave, a traditional Ilocano handwoven fabric. The proposed SM City La Union symbolizes the province's vibrant beach culture. Furthermore, rooms are built specifically for local brands, recognizing and promoting the regions' entrepreneurs. SM is constantly pushing the boundaries of retail, reinventing and recreating the mall experience for Filipinos. More than merely shopping malls, SM is growing to create and nurture communities in which Filipinos and businesses can thrive.
