SM Investments Announces to Add 10 to 15 SM Markets Outside NCR in 2024

Through SM Markets, the SM Investments group plans to open 10 to 15 new stores this year in order to better fulfill the basic requirements of Filipino communities in underserved areas and give provincial regions better access to a modern food shopping experience.

With the opening of these locations, SM Markets will have over 350 locations across the country this year, with more than 70% of them being outside of the National Capital Region (NCR).

This geographical growth is in line with SM Markets' mission to increase customer reach by delivering great service and reasonably priced goods to more Filipino households. In addition to giving the community more alternatives, the new grocery shops will help locally owned MSMEs by giving them a platform to display their goods on the shelves and at weekend markets.

In the first part of the year, three new stores under the SM Markets umbrella brand—SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, and Savemore Market—will open in Mati (Davao Oriental), Marilao (Bulacan), and Naujan (Mindoro). Savemore Siniloan (Laguna), Savemore Pantukan (Davao de Oro), Savemore Hotel Supreme (Baguio), and SM Supermarket Caloocan opened in the first half.

From fresh produce to pantry staples and discoveries, we aim to ensure families have access to their daily essentials,” SM Supermarket President Jojo Tagbo said.

SM Markets now operates 223 Savemore stores, 54 Hypermarkets, and 66 Supermarkets. This carries on SM Markets' 2023 geographic reach growth, during which it opened 12 stores around the nation, including in Iloilo, Bataan, Leyte, and General Santos. Two SM Cherry branches in Aklan and Rizal were among these recent acquisitions, enhancing SM Markets' footprint in strategic locations.

Specializing in different Filipino requirements, SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, and Savemore are the three brands that make up SM Markets. While SM Hypermarket combines the convenience of a department store with a supermarket, SM Supermarket provides a wide variety of food items within SM malls. Conversely, Savemore offers easily accessible grocery staples to everyone, with locations around the country.

Since its opening in SM Makati in 1985, SM Supermarkets has continuously changed to satisfy consumer needs, one of which has been to bring the same shopping experience closer to consumers' homes.
