RLC's The Residences at The Westin Manila Now Runs on 100% Renewable Energy

RLC Residences has partnered with ACEN RES to shift its properties to cleaner sources of energy. The Residences at The Westin Manila became the first RLC Residences property to go completely renewable on December 26, 2024, as part of the Department of Energy's Green Energy Option Program (GEOP). The GEOP is a voluntary policy mechanism that allows consumers of electricity to select renewable energy sources for their power requirements.

Switching to renewable energy benefits both the environment and our homeowners, translating to energy cost savings of about 8-10% for residents. It’s a win-win for us, our clients, and the planet,” said Chad Sotelo, Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager of RLC Residences and Chief Marketing Officer of Robinsons Land Corporation.

This successful transition to green energy was made possible by a collaboration with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail power supply arm of ACEN Corporation. ACEN RES, a prominent distributor of renewable energy to companies, helps the transition to sustainable power sources. By implementing renewable energy, this effort decreases dependency on fossil fuels, minimizes carbon emissions, and has the potential to cut utility bills.

ACEN RES estimates that after all 28 RLC Residences projects have completed their transformation, annual CO2 emissions will be decreased by 344,281 kilograms.

In 2024, RLC Residences partnered with IFC to commit 1 million square meters (GFA) of net-zero carbon and resilient condominiums by 2031. This collaboration focuses on implementing green building strategies through IFC’s Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification and assessing resilience using the Building Resilience Index (BRI) tool.
