The RTF received the award for its innovative approach to sustainability, which demonstrates the company's dedication to environmental stewardship and its good influence on society. Established in 2005, the Tambuli Awards highlight excellence in marketing communications and award great marketing campaigns and sustainability projects that have a positive global impact. The innovative rainwater treatment facility (RTF), which opened in July 2023, has achieved great progress in water management. Since its debut, the RTF has converted over 17,111.80 cubic meters of rainwater—the equivalent of seven Olympic-sized swimming pools—into potable water for the mall's operations and tenants. The RTF, strategically positioned in the mall's basement level, meets 30% of the mall's total monthly average requirement for clean, consumable water. The RTF uses a rigorous six-step treatment procedure, with equipment constantly monitored and settings checked in real time to ensure peak performance. The treated water is regularly tested and consistently meets all water quality criteria. “We at SM Prime Holdings (SM Prime) are proud to present this rainwater treatment facility as a symbol of our commitment to sustainability and community well-being,” said SM Supermalls’ Vice President and Sustainability and Resilience Head Engr. Liza Silerio. “By harnessing rainwater, we’re conserving water resources and promoting a healthier Baguio City.” SM Prime remains committed to its role as an economic growth accelerator, creating creative and sustainable lifestyle cities that improve the quality of life for millions of people. SM Prime is exploring the next frontier in integrated property development, with the goal of creating sustainable communities for the future.
