In Occidental Mindoro, PLDT and Smart are expanding their mission to protect communities against digital technology-enabled crimes. In an effort to support the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-MIMAROPA (Region 4B) ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB), PLDT and Smart attended a training session for the province's IT officers, entitled "Cybercrime: Effective Reputation Management Techniques."
During the activity held at the provincial capitol, IT representatives from across the region learned about the potential perils and possibilities that artificial intelligence, or A.I. presents to Filipinos, and the ethical considerations in cybersecurity, including the need for proper policies to help protect user information and data online. This training is part of the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Initiative, a program of the International Telecommunication Union and Cisco being implemented by the DICT in the Philippines and is supported by PLDT and Smart as its sole telco partner. In order to improve the quality of the customer experience by shielding them from risks and attacks, the PLDT Group has launched the #BeCyberSmart program and other initiatives to raise cybersecurity awareness.
