PH Resorts Group Announces Permanent Closure of Donatela Resort & Sanctuary
PH Resorts Group Holdings Inc. (PHR), the tourism and hospitality arm of Dennis Uy’s Udenna Group, has made a major structural move. In a disclosure released on October 1, 2026, the company announced the permanent closure of the luxury Donatela Resort & Sanctuary located in Panglao, Bohol, alongside significant corporate restructuring.
The decision marks a critical turning point for the upscale property as the group moves to streamline its assets and address corporate liabilities.

Surrendering Donatela amid Financial Restructuring

Spanning a 7.5-hectare private enclave, Donatela Resort & Sanctuary—known for its exclusive villas, lush botanical setting, and high-end hospitality—has officially ceased operations.

According to updates, the property is being turned over following loan obligations. The development is tied to a broader corporate restructuring strategy by PH Resorts Group, which aims to:

  • Reduce Liabilities: Clean up the balance sheet at the PHR level to mitigate mounting financial pressures.
  • Transfer Holdings: Streamline ownership structures by transferring specific holdings—including PH Travel and Leisure Holdings Corp.—back to parent company Udenna Corp.
  • Re-focus Priorities: Shift organizational bandwidth away from non-core or heavily leveraged tourist assets as the group navigates a challenging economic and operational environment.
Navigating a Broader Strategic Shift

The closure of Donatela underscores the rigorous financial adjustments currently underway within the Udenna hospitality ecosystem. While Donatela served as a crown jewel for boutique luxury tourism in Panglao since its acquisition, the heavier focus for PH Resorts Group has increasingly centered on navigating its capital structure and managing its larger-scale developments, such as the ongoing evolution surrounding its flagship integrated resort projects.

As stakeholders digest today's disclosure, the move signals a pragmatic, albeit painful, retreat from certain leisure segments as PH Resorts prioritizes debt reduction and long-term corporate stabilization.
