One of Europe's leading charter and wet-lease carriers, Wamos Air, and Philippine Airlines (PAL) have reached a temporary wet-lease arrangement. The purpose of this agreement is to guarantee PAL's efficient fleet management and operational robustness throughout the upcoming high travel season. The date of this temporary agreement's implementation is June 1, 2024. For a duration of five months, PAL is leasing two Airbus A330-200s configured as two classes to operate its flights between Manila and Sydney as well as Manila and Melbourne. Similar amenities to those found on PAL's A330 will be provided to passengers, along with the same in-flight and on-ground services. Additionally, PAL cabin crew members will be present to guarantee the provision of PAL's renowned level of service.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng said, “We have additional maintenance requirements during this period due to global supply chain issues that continue to impact the industry. We see the need to temporarily add these aircraft to ensure that we have sufficient capacity to meet the demand that we are anticipating across our network.” In a wet lease arrangement, the lessor provides aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) to another airline for a specified period. “We chose Wamos Air because of their track record as one of Europe’s leading charter carriers. We are working closely with the carrier to ensure that our passengers will continue to receive the service quality they can expect from Philippine Airlines,” added Capt. Ng. Wamos Air is certified by the International Air Transport Association’s Operational Safety Audit, and has successfully completed wet-lease operations for over 50 airlines globally. Philippine Airlines operates daily flights to Sydney and five times weekly services to Melbourne. Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the Philippines’ flag carrier and only full-service network airline, as well as the first commercial airline in Asia. PAL's fleet of Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft operate scheduled nonstop flights out of hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao to 32 destinations in the Philippines and 40 destinations in Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East. Known for its hallmark heartwarming and gracious Filipino service, PAL also supports the global economy through air cargo and charter services, while serving the travel needs of overseas Filipinos as well as businesspeople, tourists and families from all over the world.
