Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has completed the acquisition of 28,053 common shares of CIS Bayad Center, Inc. (CBCI) from Densan System Co., Ltd. (Densan) for a total consideration price of P241,500,000.00. Densan, a Japanese company that launched Japan’s first convenience store payment service, invested in CBCI in 2017. Following the acquisition by Meralco, the ownership structure of CBCI will be as follows: Customer Information Solutions, Inc. – 85%, Kayana Solutions, Inc. – 10%, and Meralco – 5%.
Customer Information Solutions, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Meralco. Bayad is a corporation duly organized under Philippine laws and with office address at G/F, Business Solutions Center Meralco Complex, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City. It has developed an outsourced bills payment collection service in the Philippines, aggregating a multitude of billers into a robust system that is now being used by leading establishments and electronic money institutions across the country. Formerly known as Bayad Center, a fintech subsidiary of Meralco, it continues to innovate and offer a whole suite of financial products and services available to both consumers and businesses. Meralco is the largest private sector electric distribution utility company in the Philippines covering 39 cities and 72 municipalities. Meralco celebrated 120 years of service in 2023, committed to providing reliable and affordable energy.
