International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Plans to Invest in the New Southern Luzon Gateway

International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) is constructing a new international container terminal in Bauan, Batangas, Philippines. The planned port will be the largest privately funded marine terminal investment in the country's history, and it will eventually be the second-largest container facility after the Manila International Container Port at the Port of Manila.

The terminal will provide over two million TEUs of capacity for an anticipated total investment of $800 million. Once completed, the terminal's first two phases will have a 900-meter quay and at least eight ship-to-shore gantry cranes.

With design and technical studies well underway, ICTSI plans to begin construction of Phase 1 in the first quarter of 2025, with Phase 2 following when demand requires it. With the first berth slated to be completed by the end of 2027, the terminal will serve as a catalyst for economic growth in Southern Luzon, creating jobs and boosting regional development. The facility is also projected to help meet the maritime handling needs of the country's renewable energy transition strategy for Southern Luzon.

The Bauan facility, located 120 kilometers south of Manila and nine kilometers west of Batangas City, will be the premier international gateway for shippers in the CALABARZON region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), as well as the country's most modern container terminal. Bauan is a first-class municipality in Batangas province recognized for its agricultural and industrial power, located on a natural cove.

The facility will also enable ICTSI to efficiently manage capacity needs in both the Metro Manila consumption core and CALABARZON via the new Bauan terminal and the Manila International Container Terminal.​
