Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), an International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) business in Nigeria, has acquired and installed two new mobile harbor cranes (MHC) and a container freight station (CFS). These improvements demonstrate OMT's dedication to improving terminal operations while also benefiting Nigerian trade and commerce. The new cranes, worth more than US$25 million, are expected to boost OMT's container handling efficiency, cut vessel turnaround times, and optimize overall cargo operations. The implementation enables the terminal to handle the increased demand for dependable port services while remaining consistent with the federal government's blue economy strategy.
“These investments are aimed at further improving the terminal’s overall operations and represent the ICTSI Group’s commitment to boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade. We thank our partners in the government and stakeholders in the industry for their cooperation in achieving these milestones,” said Jacob Gulmann, OMT Chief Executive Officer. These fresh developments represent a huge step forward for OMT, establishing it as a key maritime hub in West Africa. Together with the ICTSI Group, OMT will continue to push development in Nigeria's maritime industry. ICTSI is a leading global developer, manager and operator of container terminals in the 50.0 thousand to 3.5 million TEU/year range. ICTSI operates in six continents and continues to pursue container terminal opportunities around the world. |
