Google AdSense Announces New Collapsible Anchors Option

Google AdSense has revealed an imminent enhancement of anchor ads: collapsible anchors. Collapsible anchors boost ad visibility, which improves performance.

What are collapsible anchors?

According to Google AdSense, collapsible anchors will automatically enlarge ad height on mobile devices for better viewability while allowing users to easily shrink them back.​

​Some important information regarding collapsible anchors: 

• They give more space to express the advertiser's message, resulting in improved exposure and click-through rates.
• They are only available on mobile. 
• They can accommodate both top and bottom anchors. 
• To provide a great user experience, frequency is capped per user.

Automatic enrollment

If you are currently have anchor ads enabled, no action is required by you. Google AdSense will automatically enable collapsible anchors over the next 30 days. This feature enhancement reflects Google’s commitment to offering you the best tools and features without any additional implementation steps.

If you prefer not to use collapsible anchors, you can opt out. Here are the steps:

1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
2. Click Ads.
3. In the table of all your sites, click Edit next to your site. Your site opens in the ad settings preview.
4. Under "Ad settings", make sure Auto ads is turned on.
5. Click Overlay formats, and make sure you've selected Anchor ads.
6. Turn off collapsible anchors.
