For the first half of 2024, Globe has built 352 cell towers and upgraded 1,942 current mobile sites to LTE technology, continuing to make major progress in developing its network infrastructure across the country. In order to give Filipinos a dependable, life-improving connection, the network expansion seeks to improve Globe's mobile services and data speeds. Globe has significantly improved its fiber infrastructure in addition to its mobile network. From January to June of this year, the company installed 39,880 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines, therefore increasing the coverage of high-speed fiber internet.
Globe has intentionally scheduled this year's deployment to optimize the use of its current fiber inventory in line with its lower cash Capital Expenditure (Capex) allocation. As part of its commitment to closing the digital divide, Globe has effectively expanded its network to over 500 Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). Its efforts to expand its network reach outside urban centers are noteworthy. Globe connects isolated communities so that people can take advantage of economic possibilities, educational materials, and essential internet services that were previously out of reach due to distance. Joel Agustin, Head of Service Planning and Engineering of Globe, emphasized the company's dedication to inclusive connectivity: "We believe that every Filipino deserves access to reliable communication services. We’re here to empower them with the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.” Since 2023, Globe's approach to network growth has changed, going from pursuing opportunistic capacity expansion to optimizing network investments. This strategic pivot has yielded positive results, allowing the mobile leader to return to sustainable Capex levels without compromising network quality or capacity. The company is working toward its goal of enhancing the country's digital infrastructure and supporting government initiatives aimed at improving quality of life and nationwide connectivity.
