Globe Telecom Successfully Pilots Next-Gen Broadband Tech

​Globe Telecom has conducted a successful pilot test of their 50GPON (50 Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology, which provides quicker, more dependable connectivity that allows for smoother streaming, faster downloads, and continuous online experiences.

The pilot, which was hosted at the Globe Valero Telepark in Makati City, revealed how the next-generation 50GPON technology enables data transfer at speeds of up to 50 Gbps, establishing a new standard in broadband connection and laying the groundwork for Globe's aim of delivering multi-gigabit speeds.

By outperforming existing 10GPON technology, 50GPON offers more efficiency, decreased latency, and the ability to meet the diversified demands of both residential and commercial users.

The pilot includes extensive testing for throughput, end-to-end latency, and jitter, as well as demonstrations of actual high-bandwidth applications, including 8K streaming, cloud gaming, augmented and virtual reality, fiber-to-the-room, and high-definition video conferencing.

​50GPON technology may be utilized widely to improve customers' digital experiences while driving innovation in sectors such as real-time cloud gaming, 8K video streaming, and enhanced smart home solutions. The technology also opens up possibilities for smart cities, telemedicine, sophisticated manufacturing, e-learning, and secure business networking.

Globe is in the process of finding potential locations and early users of the technological solution in advance of future implementation.
