Globe Telecom Rolls Out Energy-Efficient Tech for LTE and 5G Network Expansion

Globe has begun implementing its 32T32R Massive MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology for increased LTE capacity and 5G development in 200 densely populated urban locations, with completion expected this year.

​The cutting-edge solution from vendor partners such as Nokia improves efficiency and reduces energy usage, representing a significant step in Globe's commitment to boosting network capacity and providing world-class service while minimizing its environmental effect.

The 32T32R Massive MIMO system achieves a mix of performance and sustainability by using fewer antennas and consuming less power. It provides sufficient capacity for the majority of Globe's needs and is an excellent alternative for growing LTE and 5G networks in urban areas.

The system's beamforming and multi-user MIMO features enable it to send signals to several users at the same time, enhancing network capacity and quality while remaining energy efficient. Each 32T32R site is expected to save around 200 kWh of electricity each month, reducing carbon emissions by 1.7 metric tonnes yearly. 

Furthermore, the technology's lower form factor and weight—21 kg lighter and 24 liters smaller than earlier models—allow for easier and faster installation.
