Globe Telecom Partners with ACEN RES for Renewable Energy Supply
Globe Telecom, the leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, has shifted 20 of its facilities to 100% renewable energy supply through ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), with three other sites in the process of transition with guaranteed renewable energy supply from ACEN.
These facilities include the Globe Tower, its corporate headquarters in BGC, Taguig, which shifted to RE in 2019, with some more sites set for transitioning this year. This strategic move underscores Globe’s commitment to sustainability and its active role in promoting renewable energy adoption in the country.

Globe partnered with ACEN RES, the retail electricity supply unit of the Ayala group, for its proven track record in delivering sustainable and reliable renewable energy solutions. Through this partnership, Globe aims to reduce its carbon footprint as part of its net zero strategy. By transitioning to RE, these facilities avoided an estimated 42,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere from Globe’s 2023 consumption.

Eric Francia, president and CEO of ACEN, said: “Digitalization and sustainability are at the very core of the Ayala group. We are excited to harness these synergies with Globe and help empower the Filipino people in a sustainable manner.”

Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe, expressed his gratitude for the partnership with ACEN RES: “This milestone marks a significant step towards our goal of transitioning to renewable energy. By working together with ACEN RES, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also demonstrating our commitment to providing innovative digital solutions for Filipinos towards a sustainable future.”

To commemorate this achievement, Eric Francia and Ernest Cu unveiled Globe’s Powered by Renewable Energy badge at the Globe Tower. The badge is awarded by ACEN RES to its customers who have shifted to 100% renewable energy supply. Globe's badge serves as a testament to the company's dedication to sustainability and its active role in promoting renewable energy adoption in the Philippines. This partnership with ACEN RES further strengthens Globe’s position as a leader in the telecommunications industry, demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices.

ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) is the retail electricity supply arm of ACEN, the publicly listed energy platform of the Ayala group. With a rapidly expanding presence across the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, and the U.S.A., ACEN is leading the charge in the renewable energy transition. The company currently manages a substantial 4.8 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity, both operational and under construction.

With the Philippines as its home and priority market, ACEN is fast-tracking the expansion of its renewable energy portfolio to align with the nation’s decarbonization goals and meet the increasing demand for clean energy. Currently, the company’s domestic assets include 1,850 MW of solar, wind, and geothermal capacity.

ACEN is committed to delivering clean, reliable, and affordable energy across the Asia-Pacific region. The company has set an ambitious target to increase its renewable energy capacity to 20 GW by 2030. As a pioneer in sustainable practices, ACEN is spearheading initiatives for the early retirement of coal plants and has pledged to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
