With the activation of four new cell towers, Globe Telecom has greatly improved local communities' connectivity and digital access in the municipality of Liloan, Cebu—home of the renowned Rosquillos. This development is seen to benefit residents in the coastal town, particularly in Brgy. Tayud, a remote industrial area that hosts two of these towers. The other facilities are located in Brgy. San Vicente and Brgy. Yati.
The three communities now enjoy a major increase in mobile and internet services, which were previously restricted to spotty 4G and 5G coverage. This has improved their daily lives and created new avenues for development and progress. Locals could look into more remote career opportunities, participate in online education, and launch e-commerce projects using social media and other digital platforms because of the expanded network infrastructure. Companies can also use digital technologies to boost efficiency and productivity. "We are unwavering in our commitment to expanding our network to ensure that more Filipinos have access to reliable and fast internet, no matter where they are," said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering. “This initiative is set to uplift people’s quality of life, bolster local businesses, and drive economic growth in Liloan,” he added. Brgy. Tayud is positioned to benefit greatly from this development since it provides support to Liloan's shipyards and shipbuilding operations. The activation of the two towers can aid in bridging the digital gap for the 22,000 residents of the barangay because of its remote location from the city center. Tayud Barangay Hall, Corbox Corporation, Apollo's View (ground level), Amara, Gallardo's Venue, and Makaloka Beach Resort are a few of the locations covered by the cell sites. In Brgy. San Vicente, the new tower benefits nearly 13,000 residents, while the tower in Brgy. Yati provides improved connectivity to 37,000 residents. Since Brgy. Tayud and Brgy. San Vicente have been identified as flood-prone areas due to rising sea levels, Globe’s new builds could also play a vital role in disaster preparedness and response such as aiding in early warning systems and coordination of relief efforts. Easy access to the municipality's LiveLoveLiloan App, which provides a number of services like an online marketplace for local vendors, emergency services, and an electronic transport system, is another instant benefit for residents of the three barangays. Globe's commitment to guarantee that every community in the Philippines can fully participate in and benefit from the digital economy includes ongoing investments in network infrastructure.
