Globe Telecom Improves Energy Efficiency with Qualcomm's AI-Powered Solution

Qualcomm, in partnership with Amdocs, has announced a significant expansion of their RAN Automation platform, Edgewise, over Globe Telecom's network. This includes Qualcomm's cutting-edge AI-based Energy Efficiency Orchestration application, which has been operating at Globe for the past seven months and is powered by AWS Cloud infrastructure.

​To date, Qualcomm's Edgewise Energy Saving Solution has reduced energy consumption by an amazing 4.2%. This result demonstrates the concrete benefits of Qualcomm's superior technology in generating significant environmental and operational gains for telecom providers such as Globe.

This strategic step intends to enable Globe to enhance the energy efficiency of its existing RAN equipment, decreasing carbon emissions, lowering operational expenditures (OPEX), and delivering optimal energy cost savings.

Qualcomm's groundbreaking Edgewise Energy Efficiency application uses advanced AI and machine learning approaches to intelligently organize telecom operators' existing RAN equipment. This dynamically improves energy-saving actions at the cellular level while ensuring the best user experience. One significant advantage of this technique is its ability to address the intricacies of changing energy needs, maximize energy-saving time windows, and respond seamlessly to traffic variations and network changes.

In keeping with Globe's unwavering commitment to decarbonization and net zero carbon emissions, the telecom giant has been aggressively researching innovative methods to increase energy efficiency. The difficulty has been to find a careful balance between minimizing energy use and ensuring optimal network quality. Globe, with its very sophisticated network of numerous layers and profiles, discovered Qualcomm's Edgewise technology to be a game changer.
