Globe Telecom Completes Fiber Migration in 450 Cities and Towns Across the Philippines

Globe Telecom has successfully upgraded 450 cities and towns in the Philippines to fiber-optic technology, demonstrating its commitment to offering superior connection to wireline customers while supporting sustainability through energy-efficient, future-ready solutions.

The migration, which involves replacing copper lines with fiber, would impact towns and cities in at least 60 provinces across the country. 

Globe is nearing completion of its transition from antiquated copper cables to contemporary fiber optics, which is intended to fulfill the growing need for reliable internet connectivity across all sectors. This update ensures that users have access to uninterrupted, high-speed internet, which is perfect for remote work, online learning, entertainment, and a variety of other digital activities.

Furthermore, Globe's transition to fiber is an essential component of its commitment to sustainability. Fiber-optic technology has a lower carbon footprint than older copper-based systems since it consumes less energy.

Globe may use this more effective technology to carry data faster over longer distances while using less energy, ultimately contributing to the company's broader objective of lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
