Globe Telecom Appoints Carl Raymond R. Cruz as Deputy CEO

Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu announced the appointment of Carl Raymond R. Cruz as Globe Telecom's Deputy CEO, beginning January 1, 2025. As Deputy CEO, he will report directly to the CEO and manage the company's day-to-day activities. ​

​Cruz will be nominated for President and CEO of Globe Telecom during the company's annual stockholders meeting (ASM), which is scheduled for April 2025. Until then, he will report to Cu, who will remain President and CEO of Globe Telecom until the 2025 ASM.

Going ahead, Mr. Cu will continue to serve as Chairman of Kickstart Ventures, Inc., STT GDC Philippines, and 917Ventures, as well as Globe Fintech Innovations Inc. (Mynt), GCash's holding company.

Cruz brings a solid track record from previous leadership roles in numerous markets, including the Philippines. He most recently served as CEO and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Airtel Africa's largest operational company, where he was credited with increasing the company's subscriber base and mobile data business amid macroeconomic problems.
 
Cruz previously held regional and country leadership positions at Unilever, most recently as Managing Director of Unilever West Africa and concurrent CEO and Managing Director of Unilever Nigeria (February 2020 to April 2023), Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Sri Lanka (February 2016 to January 2020), and Vice President Customer Development (Sales) at Unilever Philippines (June 2012 to January 2016). He has a proven track record of transforming businesses, establishing strong teams, and achieving outstanding results.

Cruz earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from De La Salle University.
