Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor and Monetary Board (MB) Chairman Eli M. Remolona Jr. (left) administered the oath of office of Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Frederick D. Go as MB Member in a ceremony at the BSP Head Office in Manila on 08 January 2026. This was after President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. designated Secretary Go as Cabinet representative to BSP’s policy-making body. He takes over the post held by former DOF Secretary and now Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto.
Other MB members are Benjamin E. Diokno, Romeo L. Bernardo, Rosalia V. De Leon, Jose L. Querubin, and Walter C. Wassmer. Before taking the DOF’s helm, Secretary Go served as the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (SAPIEA). As SAPIEA, he coordinated the implementation of the country’s economic and investment policies, chaired the Economic Development Group, and worked closely with DOF; Department of Economy, Planning, and Development; Department of Budget and Management; Department of Trade and Industry; Board of Investments; Philippine Economic Zone Authority; and Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to joining government, Secretary Go served as Chief Executive Officer of Robinsons Land Corporation and assumed leadership positions in various companies across industries, including media, retail, food, banking, finance, airline, airport, petrochemicals, and power. Secretary Go holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University. |
