DTI, SM Train Entrepreneurs on Business Continuity Plan

​The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with SM City Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Uptown and SM CDO Downtown, successfully conducted two Business Continuity Plan (BCP) training sessions for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from March 20 to 28, respectively.

​The key topics and workshops included understanding business risks, an introduction to BCP, business impact analysis, risk assessment, formulating business continuity strategies, and BCP implementation and updates.

The session at SM City CDO Uptown’s Cinema 3 attracted 112 participants, comprising 27 DTI-assisted MSMEs and 85 mall tenants.  Meanwhile, the session at the SM CDO Downtown Event Hall gathered 28 participants, including seven MSMEs and 20 mall tenants.

These sessions form part of the DTI Misamis Oriental and SM Prime Business Resilience Program for MSMEs, an initiative designed to equip entrepreneurs with practical strategies to enhance business resilience amid unexpected disruptions.

The foundation for this program was laid through a memorandum of understanding between the DTl and SM Prime Holdings, Inc., which was represented by its Executive Committee Chairman, Mr. Hans T. Sy. This formal agreement underscores a shared commitment to collaborate, cooperate, and provide support for the advancement of disaster resilience among MSMEs throughout the Philippines.

Recognizing the common priorities and the potential for cooperation to optimize benefits for MSMEs, the program also aims to provide orientation sessions and assistance to develop business continuity plans for the 6,000 SM mall tenants and DTI-assisted MSMEs nationwide from 2024 to 2027.
