Divine Mercy Wellness and Medical Center partners with First Gen for RE supply

Divine Mercy Wellness and Medical Center (DMWMC), a leading healthcare institution in Tuguegarao City, has partnered with First Gen Corporation (First Gen), the country’s largest renewable energy (RE) provider, to transition its electricity consumption to geothermal power.

Following the signing of an agreement on September 24, both parties coordinated the hospital’s shift to direct geothermal energy. The supply is sourced from the Tongonan Geothermal Power Plant in Leyte, operated by First Gen subsidiary Energy Development Corporation.
 
The partnership is implemented under the government’s Green Energy Option Program, which enables qualified consumers with at least 100 kilowatts average peak demand to procure their entire electricity requirement from RE suppliers.

Divine Mercy Wellness and Medical Center is a 100-bed facility staffed by more than 200 medical specialists offering 24/7 radiology, pathology and laboratory services, and other ancillary services. It is part of the Mount Grace Hospitals network, under the UNILAB Group.

First Gen operates 1,700 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy from geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar sources. To bolter national energy security and complement intermittent RE sources, the company also holds a 40% stake in four gas-fired power plants with a combined capacity of 2,017 MW, majority-owned by Prime Infrastructure Capital, Inc.
