Delimondo Partners with First Gen for Solar Power Solution
Delimondo Food Specialties Inc. has tapped First Gen Corporation (First Gen) to install 993 solar panels will generate up to 572 kilowatts (kW) of power to support the electricity requirements of the food manufacturer and its efforts to adopt more sustainable practices across its operations.
Located inside the Delimondo processing plant in Tanza, Cavite, First Gen, together with sister company Pi Energy Inc., completed the construction of the solar facility last June.

The home-grown food brand, a unit under the JAKA group, is looking to reduce the environmental impact of its operations, primarily through more efficient use of water across its operations and shifting to low-carbon fuels. Aside from investing in its own renewable power supply, Delimondo has also invested in solutions such as a remote energy monitoring system and regular audits to ensure its electricity usage is optimized and efficient.

Aside from its flagship corned beef line, Delimondo plant manufactures canned processed food such as luncheon meat and yellowfin tuna; bottled items such as bacalao, callos, and spicy tinapa, as well as different sauces and oils.

First Gen, a subsidiary of Lopez-led conglomerate First Philippine Holdings Corporation, has the largest portfolio of power plants that use clean and renewable energy. Its 32 power plants with 3,666 MW of total installed capacity run on geothermal, wind, hydro and solar energy, which are all renewable; and on natural gas, the cleanest form of fossil fuel.

First Gen has transitioned from being a power generator to that of a clean energy advisor. In this expanded role, First Gen banks on the experience and expertise not just of its own people but also of those from other FPH subsidiaries, like Pi Energy, to offer regenerative solutions to companies that share a common commitment to protect the environment.

Pi Energy, on the other hand, is primarily engaged in the generation and supply of energy from renewable resources, and in the construction and installation of energy-related facilities.
