Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a leading fiber broadband provider, reaffirms its commitment to responsible business practices by submitting its Communication on Progress (CoP) for 2023 to the United Nations (UN) on progress made in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption, as outlined in the UN Global Compact. “Reporting on our sustainability gains is part of the push for transparency and accountability expected of signatories to the UN Global Compact. Converge is proud to share how we’ve been making progress in fulfilling the Ten Principles of the UNGC in 2023, which embody our responsibility to safeguard our people and our planet,” said Converge Chief Sustainability Officer Benjamin B. Azada.
Every company that participates in the UN Global Compact is required to submit an annual report, the Communication on Progress, supporting the Ten Principles for reconfirmation. These Ten Principles, which include commitments such as the abolition of all types of forced and compelled labor and the promotion and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies, are divided into four topic areas: human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. The UN Global Compact encourages companies to align their strategy and operations with ten universal principles governing human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption, as well as to engage in activities that advance social goals and the execution of the SDGs. The company continues to protect consumer privacy and data security, which are key to its Human Rights Policy. Converge promotes workforce wellness by providing numerous benefits, engagement activities, and talent development to help cultivate leaders within its ranks. Converge efficiently manages corruption risks through a variety of strategies, including business integrity policies, transparency promotion, and technology deployment. The updated Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption Policy incorporates requirements from the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Philippine anti-corruption laws. In the environmental sector, Converge continues to ramp up its renewable efforts by looking for ways to improve energy efficiency and maximize the use of renewable energy. It conducted electrical audits that resulted in rectifications to meet the requirements for acquiring an Energy Management Systems certification (ISO 50001). The company also continued to pursue renewable energy from a variety of sources, including geothermal, solar, wind, and hydropower, for both the Reliance IT Center and the Clark site. Over 17,000 companies in more than 160 countries have committed to making progress in the areas covered by the Ten Principles. The Communication on Progress 2023 of Converge can be found here, supplemented by the company’s Sustainability Report 2023.
