Dennis Anthony H. Uy, co-founder and CEO of Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a key player in the country's rapidly evolving technology industry, is set to elevate the discourse on digital connectivity and transformation as he chairs the 51st Philippine Business Conference in October this year. The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) announced his appointment after adopting a resolution and unanimously approving his nomination during the inaugural PCCI Board Meeting in January of this year.
“We are honored he (Dennis Uy) accepted our invitation to lead the conference this year. He will be ably guided and supported by the Conference Organizing Committee in implementing his plans and agenda for the conference,” PCCI President Enunina V. Mangio said. “I am honored to be appointed by the country’s biggest business group as Chairman of this conference. This annual gathering of industry leaders is a crucial time to exchange ideas, drive innovation, and shape the future of Philippine business. Moreover, it’s the chance to interface with the government, which has always been a staunch partner of ours. I look forward to meaningful dialogue and discussion that will move our nation forward,” Uy said. Uy, who is also the Director of PCCI IT and Telco, stated that the conference agenda would focus on the country's digital transformation, particularly connectivity for small enterprises and all households. “I have always believed that access to quality connectivity is not a privilege of a few, but a necessity for all. We must take discussions on digital transformation seriously because, by 2030, the entire world will be digitally connected. The Philippines needs to leap-frog and embrace technological advancements that will ultimately uplift the lives of many. But before we get there, we need to address the foundation, which is connectivity for all, no matter where they are or their demographic. We must make sure we leave no one behind,” Uy said. Uy is looking forward to meeting and collaborating with concerned government agencies to provide policy proposals that promote digital transformation and infrastructure, leading up to the actual conference. As he led Converge to supremacy in the ICT market in 2007, Uy cemented his reputation as a competent businessman. Before founding Converge, Uy was a "self-made industrialist." He began with a Betamax and VHS rental shop in Pampanga, which grew into a cable television business. He made his impact in the industry by launching the first data-over-cable service in Central Luzon through ComClark Network and Technology Corporation.
