ACEN, through its retail electricity supply arm, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (RES), has partnered with Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ leading carrier, to transition two of the airline’s key facilities to 100% renewable energy. Cebu Pacific’s APlus and AirJuan buildings located in Pasay City are now fully powered by renewable energy through ACEN RES, reaffirming the carrier’s commitment to decarbonizing its operations.
Both buildings are critical to Cebu Pacific’s daily operations as they house the airlines’ maintenance and catering operations, respectively. Shifting these facilities to renewable energy reinforces the airline’s broader decarbonization strategy which includes transitioning to a modern and fuel-efficient all-NEO fleet, implementing fuel-efficient practices, optimizing flight routes, and electrifying its ground support equipment. Sheila Mina, vice president and head of account management at ACEN, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “We are delighted to partner with Cebu Pacific to support their commitment to sustainable aviation. By providing renewable energy solutions, we are enabling Cebu Pacific to reduce its carbon emissions and operate more efficiently. This partnership aligns with our mission of making renewable energy accessible for businesses across the Philippines." Felix Lopez, Cebu Pacific chief human resources officer, said: “This shift to clean energy is an important component of further reducing our emissions, in this case, those generated from the use of electricity in our buildings and facilities. Partnering with ACEN RES also allows us to take advantage of the benefits of the Green Energy Option Program of the Department of Energy including cost savings for Cebu Pacific and supporting the country’s goal to boost renewable energy supply.” ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) is the retail electricity supply arm of ACEN, the publicly listed energy platform of the Ayala group with a rapidly growing presence across the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, and the USA. ACEN currently has 6.8 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity spanning operational, under-construction, and committed projects. As a pioneer in advancing the shift to sustainable energy, ACEN is dedicated to delivering clean, reliable, and affordable power across the Asia-Pacific region. With an ambitious target to scale its renewable energy capacity to 20 GW by 2030, the company is on track to achieve 100% renewable energy generation by 2025 and reach Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, driving a carbon-neutral future and supporting the global energy transition. |
