Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines' leading carrier, strengthens its Visayas and Mindanao network with the addition of 18 new routes, increasing inter-island connectivity and making air travel more accessible and affordable across the airline's domestic and international destinations. By December, CEB will have 73 trips serving Visayas and Mindanao, including additional routes from its Iloilo, Davao, Cebu, and Clark hubs. This expansion will raise the airline's capacity on Visayas and Mindanao flights to 2.1 million seats, up from 1.4 million in January 2024, and the number of flights operating throughout the same network to an average of 12,000. CEB plans to operate the following domestic and international routes serving Visayas and Mindanao beginning October 2024: In order to facilitate this growth, CEB plans to welcome 18 aircraft this year, 11 of which have already arrived. In addition, the airline has placed an order with Airbus for up to 152 aircraft, the largest order in Philippine aviation history, with deliveries beginning no later than 2029.
“Visayas and Mindanao serve as the gateway to the world’s most beautiful beaches, colorful festivals, and vibrant cultures. We are excited to offer the traveling public more opportunities to explore our islands and connect with more communities. This also allows us to boost our hubs outside Manila that will help generate economic opportunities to support the country’s growth agenda,” said Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), every job in the airline industry supports 29 other employment opportunities in tourism, supply chain, and other connected areas. This means that Cebu Pacific will be able to create over 3,700 jobs this year by sending up to 128 pilots and cabin staff to man aircraft deliveries. To encourage people to travel, CEB offered a special ticket sale on September 17, 2024, allowing travelers from Visayas and Mindanao to book flights to select domestic locations for as little as P88 one-way base cost, without surcharges and fees. The travel period runs from September 11, 2024, to February 28, 2025, making it ideal for people who need to travel right away or who want to spend the holidays with family and friends in the province. CEB serves 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
