BDO Unibank Strengthens Opportunities for Japanese Companies in the PH

BDO supports national development by supporting Japanese firms seeking to establish or extend their presence in the country.

In a landmark move, BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) and Japan's Ashikaga Bank, Ltd. (ABL) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster a partnership that would allow Japanese companies to thrive in the Philippines' diverse markets.

ABL, a renowned regional bank headquartered in Tochigi Prefecture, is the 17th Japanese bank that has partnered with BDO. With 134 branches, including satellite offices and commercial banking services, ABL has maintained its dominant market position in the region.

The MOU, with a mutually agreed-upon execution date of December 23, 2024, aims to strengthen the relationship between these two banks, as BDO provides banking support services to Japanese business entities that are ABL customers and have existing operations or plan to build or expand their business in the country.

ABL, founded in 1895 and serving over 70,000 corporate clients, plans to expand its customer base in the Philippines through new investments and business matching partnerships.

As the only bank in the country with complete international offices, BDO employs a multicultural team of relationship managers and advisers with substantial international and local banking expertise.

Established in 2007, BDO's Japan Desk has evolved to include Japanese-speaking people committed to marketing and servicing Japanese firms operating in the Philippines, as well as meeting Japanese clients' retail requirements.
