Basic Energy Corporation Secures Certificate of Authority for Cadiz 1 Solar Power Project

Basic Energy Corporation announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a Certificate of Authority (COA) for the Cadiz 1 Solar Power Project. This follows the Board of Directors' approval of a Solar Energy Operating Contract (SEOC) application, disclosed last 4 December 2024, and our recent update on the awarding of the COA for the Bataan Solar Project.

​Issued under the revised Omnibus Guidelines Governing the Award and Administration of Renewable Energy Contracts (effective June 2024), the COA grants Basic Energy Corporation the authority to secure necessary permits and tenure instruments for the project. It also enables the company to initiate procurement activities in preparation for the 25-year SEOC contract term.

Located in Cadiz, Negros Occidental, the Cadiz 1 Solar Power Project will span approximately 30 hectares. A preliminary assessment by an independent third-party firm estimates a peak generation capacity of at least 43 megawatts (MWp).

With the COA secured, Basic Energy Corporation will move forward with critical development activities, including obtaining approvals from national agencies and local government units. The company will also conduct a System Impact Study in collaboration with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to ensure seamless grid integration.
