Basic Energy Corporation (BSC) announced a significant milestone in the development of its Mabini Wind Power Project, managed by its subsidiary, RDG Wind Energy Corporation (RWEC; formerly Mabini Energy Corporation). RWEC has successfully completed its Wind Resource Assessment (WRA), receiving a comprehensive, bankable report along with an Annual Energy Production (AEP) analysis and wind turbine generator (WTG) micrositing study from its international consultants. This milestone follows the completion of wind data collection in May 2024, using both a 120-meter met mast and a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) system. The combination of these technologies has provided highly accurate and reliable wind data for the Mabini, Batangas site.
The WRA results indicate excellent wind conditions for developing a wind power plant with an initial capacity of 50 MW, which is expected to generate approximately 250 GWh annually, utilizing the latest wind turbine technology. Additionally, the micrositing study has revealed significant potential for future capacity expansion at the site. In addition, RWEC has obtained approval for its System Impact Study (SIS) from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), allowing the Project to proceed with plans for grid interconnection and power delivery RWEC holds an active Wind Energy Service Contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) and is currently conducting feasibility studies, along with preliminary engineering and design work for the plant. The Project is expected to be completed and commissioned by early 2028. The Mabini Wind Energy Project is covered by Wind Energy Service Contract No. 2021-01-142 issued by the Department of Energy as disclosed by BSC on March 24, 2021 (PSE Company Disclosure Ref. No. C01909-2021). The service contract has a land coverage area of 4,860 hectares in the Mabini Peninsula with a potential capacity of 50 MW.
