In a major move toward environmental sustainability, A.T. Yuchengco Centre (ATYC), a well-known 34-story PEZA-accredited office tower in the center of Bonifacio Global City, announced that it would switch to a 100% renewable energy supply through a retail electricity supply agreement with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), an affiliate of the Ayala group. Under the agreement, ACEN RES will power the A.T. Yuchengco Centre with renewable energy sourced from ACEN’s extensive renewable energy portfolio, potentially avoiding up to 32,337 metric tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to almost 8,000 cars off the road annually. This move aligns with A.T. Yuchengco Centre’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and supporting the Philippines’ transition to a renewable energy future.
The 34-story structure, which has retail and commercial spaces in addition to 25 office levels perfect for BPO firms, is now powered by renewable energy. Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN, said: “We are proud to be a partner in sustainability with A.T. Yuchengco Centre. This collaboration underscores the importance of the commercial real estate sector in enabling the energy transition. ACEN is committed to supporting organizations like A.T. Yuchengco Centre in reaching their sustainability goals, contributing to a greener and more resilient future for the Philippines.” Lorenzo Tan, President of ATYC, Inc., said: “At A.T. Yuchengco Centre, we are dedicated to creating a progressive and sustainable work environment for our tenants. Partnering with ACEN RES to transition to 100% renewable energy is a significant step forward in achieving this goal. We are confident that this initiative will resonate with our environmentally conscious tenants and contribute to the overall sustainability efforts of the Yuchengco Group of Companies.” ACEN is the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group with a fast-growing presence in the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR and the U.S.A. With about 4.8 GW of attributable renewables capacity in operation and under construction, as well as signed agreements and won competitive tenders worth over 1 GW, the company has already effectively surpassed its original goal of reaching 5 GW of renewables by 2025. ACEN aims to provide clean, reliable and affordable energy in the Asia Pacific and grow its renewables capacity to 20 GW by 2030. The company is committed to achieving 100% renewable energy in its generation portfolio by 2025 and becoming a Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions company by 2050.
