Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates Unveils Sustainability Hub @ LIMA Estate
Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates has reaffirmed its commitment to building a greener, smarter, and more resilient future with the launch of its Sustainability Hub at LIMA Estate. This dedicated facility serves as a central platform for the estate’s key environmental programs—underscoring the company’s role in championing sustainable industrial development in the Philippines.
“The Sustainability Hub reflects our dedication to responsible waste management and circular economy principles. Through collaboration with our Estate community and stakeholders, we aim to minimize environmental impact and contribute to the long-term sustainability of our region,” said Clifford Academia, Vice President for Operations of Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates.

The Hub consolidates a range of environmental efforts that promote water conservation, ecological restoration, and solid waste management. With a storage capacity of 3.3 m3, the Greywater Recycling Facility repurposes treated wastewater from LIMA Water Corporation’s sewage treatment plant for non-potable uses such as the irrigation of plants. Complementing this is the Plant Nursery, which cultivates diverse plant species that enhance LIMA Estate’s biodiversity and landscaping. Currently, the facility actively produces 18 species of groundcovers, shrubs, and palm trees. Since its expansion in 2024, we can now accommodate around 15,000 propagates daily.

Central to the Hub is the Materials Recovery Facility, which ensures proper waste segregation and processing. The MRF can cater four different types of waste - food, plastic, residual, and hazardous. Alongside it is the Composting Facility, which converts up to one ton of food waste into 100 kilograms of nutrient-rich compost in just 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Eco Materials Facility transforms plastic waste into eco-bricks, eco-pavers, and eco-casts—demonstrating how circular economy solutions can be scaled across industrial estates. The facility has the capacity to produce 500 eco-bricks, 500 eco-casts, and 1,000 eco-pavers daily.

In alignment with its commitment to uplifting host communities, Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates has begun extending the benefits of these initiatives to neighboring barangays. Brgy. Bagong Pook received 420 kg of compost to nourish its community garden, while Brgy. Luta Sur was provided with 507 eco-bricks and 53 eco-casts to support local development projects.

Recognizing the value of collaboration, the company also honored key partners for their contributions. Aice Philippines Ice Cream Inc., Bandai Namco Philippines Inc., and Sansyu Precision Lipa, Inc. were acknowledged for their consistent plastic waste donations. Ipponyari was recognized as the top contributor of vegetable scraps for vermicomposting, while Flavors and Wingbites at The Outlets @ LIMA Estate were commended for their food waste contributions.

To promote sustainability across the wider estate community, the company also hosts Waste Management 101 sessions, equipping stakeholders with practical knowledge on responsible disposal practices. Green bins made from recycled plastic are placed throughout the estate to encourage proper segregation. A Waste-to-Rewards program is also in the pipeline to incentivize eco-friendly behaviors across locators and partners.

“We see this as a collective effort,” said Jenifer Umali, Horticulturist and Property Manager of LIMA Estate. “By building a robust sustainability ecosystem, we aim to inspire others to adopt responsible practices and contribute to a better future. This Hub stands as a testament to our belief that progress and sustainability go hand in hand.”

The event concluded with a short planting activity and a guided tour of the Sustainability Hub, where guests witnessed firsthand how the Estate translates its sustainability goals into concrete, day-to-day initiatives that benefit both businesses and surrounding communities. It’s a glimpse of what’s to come as the company continues to redefine the future of sustainable industrial development in the Philippines.

With over 2,000 hectares of industrial development across four strategic locations—LIMA Estate in Batangas, West Cebu Estate and MEZ2 Estate in Cebu, and TARI Estate in Central Luzon—Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates continues to set benchmarks for the next generation of smart, sustainable, and future-ready economic estates. To date, the Estates have generated more than 100,000 direct jobs and attracted P167 billion in investments. In 2024 alone, exports from its locators reached $3.43 billion, reinforcing the country’s growing competitiveness in Southeast Asia.
